The Cotswolds cover a lot of ground across six counties, so where you base yourself shapes the whole trip. This page brings together our accommodation guides and points you to the right town for the kind of break you want, whether that is a luxury hotel, a village B&B or a self-catering cottage with the countryside on the doorstep.
For how the region is laid out, see our complete Cotswolds visitor guide. If you would rather travel without driving, the Cotswolds without a car covers the towns with railway stations.

Choosing a base
A few pointers before you book:
- For a no-car break, base yourself in a town with a station. Moreton-in-Marsh is the best connected, with Kingham and Charlbury also on the line.
- For shops, restaurants and a lively centre, Cirencester and Stow-on-the-Wold are hard to beat.
- For walking straight from the door, Winchcombe sits on the Cotswold Way.
- For peace and quiet, pick a village and accept that you will need a car.
